Joe Biel was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1966.
1988 he received a BFA in Painting and Art History from Drake University, Des Moines, IA.
In 1990 he graduated with an MFA in Painting from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
He lives and works in Los Angeles.
